The Melbourne branch of PKF has welcomed two new partners in recent weeks – Justin Shardey and Becky Nguyen – while Erin Sutton has been promoted to corporate finance leader in Sydney.

Sutton steps up after having served as the business unit’s operations director for the past two and a half years, with her time at PKF originally dating back to 2006 before she rejoined the Sydney and Newcastle practice in 2012.

Meanwhile, the firm has also welcomed new partners Shardey and Nguyen to its respective forensic disputes and transfer pricing teams in Melbourne, with the former arriving via KordaMentha and the latter recruited from PwC.

Justin Shardey joins after the past twelve months as an independent, before which he served as an executive director at KordaMentha. Prior to his four years at the turnaround & restructuring specialist, Shardey also held senior roles at Ferrier Hodgson, McGrathNicol and BDO, before which he kicked off his career with a decade-long stint in the forensics division of KPMG.

Across his more than two-decade career, Shardey has developed extensive expertise in preparing expert witness reports on a wide range of complex issues in numerous industries, with a particular focus on matters involving valuation, damages, and other quantum aspects of commercial disputes covering contracts, acquisitions, franchises, and class actions among other areas.

Becky Nguyen meanwhile joins PKF’s tax team in Melbourne after spending the past eighteen months at PwC, before which she served as a transfer pricing director at Kroll and Crowe in Malaysia. Like Shardey, Nguyen also started out with a decade at the Big Four – in this instance the Southeast Asian office of Deloitte – gaining further international experience in Singapore and Vietnam.

“Becky brings invaluable expertise in transfer pricing and global tax to PKF Melbourne, significantly enhancing our capabilities in these critical areas,” the firm stated. “She is committed to helping multinational companies leverage transfer pricing as a competitive advantage by proactively addressing challenges and aligning their strategies with global tax policies.”

Erin Sutton first spent four and a half years as an executive assistant to PKF’s corporate advisory leaders, before rejoining the firm as a team manager at the start of 2011 following a brief interlude at Pernod Ricard. Since then, she has worked her way up to operations manager, director, and now oversees PKF Sydney and Newcastle’s corporate finance business unit as a strategic partner to its directors.
