PKF brings in Lana Weldon as new chief operations officer for Australia
Accounting and consulting firm PKF has appointed Lana Weldon as its new chief operations officer for Australia, with Weldon crossing after the past four years as general manager at Moore.
Having started out as a trainee at KPMG in London, Weldon brings three decades worth of diverse professional experience to her new role, her time in Australia characterised by a number of board positions with non-profit organisations.
“I am excited to be joining PKF and I look forward to making a significant and positive impact,” Weldon stated. “Continued change and development takes passion and energy, and I am very much looking forward to contributing.”
An accounting graduate with Rhodes University in South Africa (and later earning her doctorate), Weldon kicked off her career with a four-year stint at KPMG, before moving onto Deloitte. Following a long career in senior accounting leadership positions and academia, Weldon in 2020 joined Moore in Perth as managing director. She joins PKF after four years in the role.
“With the talent that already exists within PKF, the generosity of spirit, and the strong appetite to attract new member firms and grow, I believe there is wonderful opportunity to guide the continued development of people and services, and to assert PKF as leader in the provision of sustainable, strategic, and highly accessible solutions for modern businesses,” Weldon stated.
Continuing to be based out of Perth, Weldon brings a variety of expertise to her new role as PKF’s national chief operations officer developed over her thirty-year international career, including, according to her bio, in strategy, quality management, audit ethics, training and development, technical research and thought leadership, and the provision of audit and assurance services.
In addition to her work within the accounting and consulting sector, Weldon also currently serves as a non-executive director of Diabetes Research Western Australia and fellow non-profit organisation Kiind, which supports families of children with disability, chronic conditions and developmental issues. She also previously served as a board member for a financial services firm in London.
“Lana is an energetic and experienced executive with expert multi-disciplinary skills that include governance, consulting and education,” stated PKF’s chairman for Australia, Steve Meyn. “And with a strong passion for research and people development, Lana is acutely aware of industry better practices, and actively mentors many young professionals within our sector.”
