Accounting and consulting network Baker Tilly has appointed Melbourne-based Pitcher Partners leader Nick Bull as its new Global Head of Audit.

Reporting to global CEO Francesca Lagerberg, Bull will be responsible for overseeing Baker Tilly’s audit practice across approximately 140 countries worldwide, which altogether boast a headcount of almost 45,000 professionals.

Consistently ranked among the world’s ten largest organisations of its kind, Baker Tilly last year pulled in global revenues of $5.2 billion, with assurance & accounting – the firm’s traditional bread and butter – up by 10 percent.

“With Nick’s appointment, we are fortunate to have an experienced partner to be the internal and external voice of Baker Tilly on key audit issues,” stated Lagerberg, who took over as CEO in 2022. “His experience makes him well placed to provide strategic insights and develop tools and solutions to execute our global audit strategy and deepen collaboration across the network.”

Bull has been with Baker Tilly’s Australian affiliate Pitcher Partners – locally a top ten firm with revenues around the $350 million mark – since 2001, gaining admission to the partnership nine years on. He has led the firm’s business advisory and assurance practice since 2016, and will continue in that role serving clients in addition to his new network-wide responsibilities.

According to Baker Tilly, these will include co-coordinating with regional and service line audit teams to drive the firm’s global audit strategy, while leading network efforts in audit-related business development, knowledge sharing, and learning programs. Bull has previously completed two secondments with overseas network members during his 24 years at the firm.

“I am looking forward to working with colleagues around the world to further enhance the competitiveness of our firms and leverage the already strong connections within our network, which offers the opportunity to access solutions that are uniquely designed and delivered for each client, powered by the experience and expertise of a top ten global organisation,” Bull said.

Bull is the second Pitcher Partners professional out of Melbourne to have taken on a prominent international role in recent times, with Ben Lloyd, who joined the firm in 2003, having spent more than a decade as global COO prior to being named Baker Tilly Canada’s first ever CEO last year. Both men are also University of Melbourne alum, Bull graduating with a commerce degree in 1999.
