Management consultancy State of Matter has recruited former PwC man Matthijs Brasz as a principal consultant, while also adding Michael Sullivan as senior leader to its digital wing, Think Beyond.

Brasz joins State of Matter as a principal consultant after a brief, recent career break and earlier stint with the University of Melbourne, prior to which he spent six years in PwC’s digital transformation & cloud consulting team.

Meanwhile, the Melbourne-based management consultancy’s sister company, B2B digital sales specialist Think Beyond, has also managed to lure former Merkle A/NZ C-suiter Michael Sullivan as its new chief growth officer.

Matthijs Brasz

Prior to his most recent twelve-month stint as as a program director within the University of Melbourne’s operational performance team, which also counts management and tech consultancies Nous Group and Elabor8 among its transformation advisors (the latter now a part of global player Cprime), Brasz spent six years in a variety of program and project delivery roles at PwC.

An international business and management graduate of the Rotterdam Business School, he originally kicked off his consulting career with a five-year at Capgemini in the Netherlands, before then spending six and a half years in a global solutions delivery role with Elsevier prior to his arrival in Australia to support Penguin Random House with its regional post-merger integration.

“With extensive experience leading complex technology transformations, Matthijs brings expertise in delivering successful programs across Australia and globally,” State of Matter said of its newest recruit. “Known for his collaborative leadership style and strategic approach, Matthijs combines deep program management expertise with an agile mindset to drive business value.”

Michael Sullivan

Meanwhile, State of Matter’s sister company Think Beyond, which was established in 2021 and is likewise a member of the Cordence network, has brought in Michael Sullivan as its new chief growth officer, after the Salesforce, SAP, and Oracle veteran was dumped from the same role at Merkle following Dentsu’s sudden and dramatic restructure orchestrated early last year.

“After a few months off, I'm excited to be back in the Salesforce ecosystem and growing a talented team to become the locally owned, boutique partner of choice for Salesforce clients,” Sullivan stated. “I can't wait to leverage the management consulting capabilities of our sister company, State of Matter, to drive digital transformation but without the Big Four price tag.”
