Sydney-based Kreston Global member Kreston Stanley Williamson has joined growing national firm SW Accountants & Advisors, adding a team of more than 35 partners and employees.

Led by managing partner Michael Goodrick, the accounting and advisory firm traces its heritage back to 1969, before adopting the Stanley Williamson (coincidentally, S&W) name a decade later and joining Kreston in 2010.

Celebrating the one decade anniversary of its switch from Moore Stephens in Melbourne, SW’s Sydney headcount will now extend to beyond 100 through the merger, including recent partner recruits Vanessa Priest and Kirsty McDonnell.

“With their deep expertise in professional practice and their reputation as trusted advisors, KSW will significantly enhance our service offerings in the region,” stated SW CEO Duane Rogers. “Their commitment to supporting their people’s career growth and expanding their service portfolio perfectly aligns with our goals as we continue to strengthen our position in Sydney.”

Based out of the affluent suburb of Kirribilli in Sydney’s north, KSW provides a comprehensive suite of accounting, audit, tax, advisory and other financial services to support clients of various sizes across a wide range of industries, including those operating in the manufacturing, property, technology, advertising, retail, and professional services sectors among others.

Alongside Goodrick, who has been with KSW for more than four decades and its managing partner since 2014, the firm has a further four partners, including Darren O’Malley, Quang Tat and Ben Barter, who have also been with the firm for upwards of twenty years, and Kamal Thakkar, a former PKF principal who joined in 2017 and also serves as chair of Kreston’s APAC steering committee.

Comprehensive solutions

“The culture we’ve cultivated has been the result of decades of hard work and commitment, and so we’re excited to join a firm like SW, whose values and culture align with our own,” Goodrick stated. “This partnership will empower us to deliver even more comprehensive solutions to better serve our clients and expand our professional reach, both nationally and internationally.”

Goodrick also noted SW’s clear growth strategy and the professional development opportunities which would now be available to KSW’s team of more than 30 practitioners, including around a dozen based in the Philippines. Among that number is company co-founder Bill Stanley, who established the firm over 55 years ago and continues to work as a part-time consultant.

Due to join in early March, SW said the merger with KSW marked an important milestone in its ongoing national expansion efforts, with the firm also having offices in Brisbane and Perth but dominated by its 90-year legacy in Melbourne. Altogether, SW will now have a partnership count of 45, including eleven in Sydney, who lead a team of 400-plus professionals nationwide.
