Arthur D. Little recruits Manik Mahajan as a principal in Melbourne

Global management consulting firm Arthur D. Little has brought in Manik Mahajan as the latest recruit to its budding Australian practice, with Mahajan joining as a principal in Melbourne.

Mahajan crosses to Arthur D. Little’s energy-focused strategy & transformation practice after a recent advisory stint with Infrastructure Victoria, having also spent time at Turner & Townsend, Publicis Sapient, Accenture, and ThinkPlace over the past decade of his career in addition to teaching at the Australian National University.

“I'm looking forward to tackling big challenges and shaping Australia’s energy future,” Mahajan said. “With the energy sector evolving every day on many fronts, including decarbonisation, infrastructure transformation, and market reform, I’m eager to collaborate with investors, governments, and industry leaders to drive real impact.”

After kicking off his career as a systems engineer at Tech Mahindra in Northern India, Mahajan then served as a research assistant at ANU while completing a masters in human-computer interaction before joining Canberra-based strategic design consultancy ThinkPlace, which was picked up by Synergy Group at the beginning of 2024.

From there, he spent three years as a management consultant at Accenture working on aged care projects, before later moving into the energy and infrastructure domains with firstly Publicis Sapient and then Turner & Townsend. In his most recent role, Mahajan helped Infrastructure Victoria deliver its 30-year strategy, with the energy transition a key area of focus.

Now, he’ll apply his expertise in supporting energy & utilities clients with their transformation agendas alongside Arthur D. Little partner and Australian practice leader Franco Santucci, who previously headed EY-Parthenon’s global power segment, and fellow principal Andrew Sampson, with global practice leader Michael Kruse welcoming Mahajan to the firm in a message on LinkedIn.

Often described as the world’s oldest management consultancy, Arthur D. Little was founded in 1886 a full decade and a half prior to Australia’s federation, but only really began building its local practice in earnest in the middle of last year with the recruitment of Santucci, before then formally announcing Australia as one of its 39 current country locations in October.
