Oliver Wyman promotes Genevieve Beart and Suzy Torta to partner in Australia

Global strategy and management consultancy Oliver Wyman has elevated Genevieve Beart and Suzy Torta to partner in Australia.

Based out of Melbourne, Beart has been on board at Oliver Wyman since the start of last year after crossing from a decade at Strategy&, while Torta has been a member of the firm’s financial services division since 2023, with a previous decade spent at Macquarie.

The pair are among 46 end-of- year senior promotions made worldwide, with Hannah Lovett and Shuping Koh also stepping up as executive directors in Singapore, demonstrating the management consultancy’s commitment to nurturing female leadership talent.

“This exceptional group has consistently delivered for our clients while strengthening the collaborative spirit that defines our success,” CEO Nick Studer said. “They exemplify what we can achieve when we operate as one, and I’m confident that their expanded roles will drive even greater impact for our clients and the culture which makes Oliver Wyman special.”

A government advisory specialist, Genevieve Beart joined Oliver Wyman in Melbourne at the beginning of last year at the time of establishment of the Canberra office. In addition to the state and federal government, Beart has also led complex, multilayered transformation projects for clients in the education sector.

According to her bio, she specialises in enterprise strategy and operational improvement and has expertise in questions relating to education, research, and innovation. Highlights of her career include an operational review for a major Australian university, and a financial sustainability review for a federal research body, resulting in improved sustainability and increased funding.

“I enjoy helping purpose-driven organisations navigate the delivery of their critical societal mandates while ensuring financial sustainability, against a backdrop of changing policies and regulations,” says Beart, who holds an engineering degree from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from London Business School, while also being a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Suzy Torta meanwhile joined Oliver Wyman’s financial services practice as a principal in Sydney in mid-2023, before which she spent close to a decade at Macquarie Group, latterly as an organisational risk transformation lead with specialist expertise in identity & access management. In somewhat of an unexpected career turn, Torta holds a degree in medical science from the University of Sydney.

As per her own bio, she leads non-financial risk transformations, culture and conduct diagnostics, risk culture uplift, and regulatory remediation engagements. She has driven multiple projects for major Australian banks, insurers, superannuation funds, and gaming providers, with her work focusing on risk governance, culture and conduct, and operating models redesign.
