DevOps1 rebrands as DX1 following Innablr acquisition
Sydney-based security and data consultancy DevOps1 has rebranded as ‘DX1’ following its acquisition of Melbourne-origin cloud solutions firm Innablr toward the end of last year.
DevOps1 was established by former Wipro ‘engineering modernisation’ country head Alex Rea in 2022, with Rea having also spent around a decade at Wipro acquisition Ampion and its predecessor Revolution IT, which was merged with Shelde and then sold by Pemba.
Now, the cloud, engineering & security consultancy will forge ahead as DX1, with the ‘D’ standing for data and the ‘X’ representing the multiplier effect, with the rebrand following its acquisition of Innablr in October and consequently the consultancy’s broader services portfolio.
DX1 described the rebrand as a pivotal shift in its trajectory, with Rea noting the firm’s newly-combined data and security competency; “After acquiring Innablr, we felt it was time to move away from DevOps1 as the name no longer describes what we do,” he said in a post to LinkedIn.
“By combining DevOps1 and Innablr, we’re building a homegrown consultancy with the size, depth, and focus to compete head-on with the multinationals,” Rea said at the time of the acquisition, which grew its headcount to 130 professionals. “Our customers want an alternative that is close to the market, understands the local context, and can deliver specialist skills at pace.”
Innablr was established in Melbourne in 2016 by CEO Dan Hornby, a one-time consultant at Atos in the UK, and engineering and technical directors Alex Bukharov and Simon Roberts, and provides a range of services around AI, data, and cloud advisory and solutions, with ANZ bank, Tabcorp, Kmart, and the University of Melbourne featuring among its listed clientele.
DevOps1, which is primarily based in Sydney has has a strong line in security, assurance and engineering, meanwhile counts the likes Allianz, Optus, QBE, Singtel, Transurban and Virgin among its client roll-call, along with organisations in a wide range of industries including financial services, education, consumer goods, telecommunications, and the public sector among others.
“Innablr has always been about using the latest technology available to enable our customers to innovate faster and with more confidence as they decide their technology roadmap,” Hornby said of joining the firm. “With DevOps1, we believe the combined reach of both companies grows exponentially, thanks to both teams bringing perfectly matched capabilities.”
