Jenny Arrand joins transaction advisory practice of Alvarez & Marsal

Professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has recruited former KPMG partner Jenny Arrand as its new capital markets & accounting practice leader within its global transaction advisory group.

Having first joined KPMG in London in 2004, Arrand has spent more than two decades at the Big Four firm between Australia, the UK and briefly in Chile, most recently as a CFO advisory partner for the past eight years based out of Sydney.

She now crosses to Alvarez & Marsal as a managing director to help build and scale the firm’s local capital markets & accounting advisory segment, working closely with the firm’s global transactions, tax, valuations, and performance improvement teams.

“As a growth market for Alvarez & Marsal, we are continuing to invest in talent in Australia to meet client demand across sectors including infrastructure, energy and natural resources,” said transactions advisory practice leader David Willis, a former colleague of Arrand’s at KPMG alongside fellow managing director recruits David Savage, Steven Shirtliff, Mark Schiavello, and Doug Houston.

Initially launched in 2023, Willis said Arrand’s recruitment was another exciting milestone for the local transactions practice; “Jenny’s leadership meaningfully enhances our end-to-end transaction accounting capabilities on the ground in the market and strengthens connectivity to our expanding global capability, ensuring clients benefit from seamless, cross-border expertise.”

A graduate of the University of Cambridge, Arrand spent time as a research assistant at defence tech firm QinetiQ and NATO before switching to accounting and later landing at KPMGin London with a focus on the infrastructure, government and healthcare sectors. Shortly after a one-year stint with the firm in Santiago, she then transferred to KPMG’s office in Sydney in 2010.

Promoted to partner in 2018 and since leading the firm’s accounting advisory services offering for Australia, Arrand brings deep expertise in complex transaction structuring, accounting due diligence, and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) reporting and submissions for both the public and private sectors, especially as to infrastructure and private equity.

“Expanding these services across our global footprint is in direct response to the challenges our clients are facing,” said global transactions leader Paul Aversano. “We are at the forefront of helping our clients navigate a growing complex environment, but Jenny’s expertise and considerable market exposure across sectors will add significant firepower to our growing global team.”

Arrand said in response; “Companies executing complex transactions, such as carve-outs, M&A, divestitures, and integrations, need independent, execution-focused advisors with deep technical accounting expertise. Our priority is to compress deal timelines while de-risking financial reporting and delivering seamless post-transaction outcomes, leveraging our global, integrated platform.”
