Bain & Company adds four new partners to Australian business

Global strategy and management consultancy Bain & Company has added four new partners in Australia.

Mitchell Taylor joins Bain & Company in Sydney after serving as the strategy & pricing consultancy’s local leader for the past year, while Kara Tolub, Raiko Shareef, and Amelia Achterstraat have also been promoted to partner in the Harbour City.

Mitchell Taylor first joined Simon-Kucher a decade ago after earning a commerce degree from Western Sydney University (complemented by a post-grad in economics and finance with the University of Sydney) and stints at Nestle and GWA Group. He was elevated to the consultancy’s partnership at the beginning of 2022, and then took the helm from long-serving leader Chris Petzoldt last year.

Now, tapping into his dual consumer industry and consulting background, Taylor becomes a member of Bain & Company’s go-to-market strategy partnership team out of Sydney, advising cross-industry clients on growth strategy, pricing, profitably improvement, revenue management, and commercial transformation to unlock sustainable growth at a time of increased AI impact.

“What drew me to Bain & Company was the chance to work with an exceptional team and help clients tackle some of their most important commercial decisions,” Taylor said of his switch. “It’s an amazing time to be working at the intersection of growth strategy and AI, and I’m excited to be joining a team that’s helping clients navigate those opportunities with confidence.”

Kara Tolub joined Bain & Company in 2009 following a commerce and law double with the University of Melbourne. She has since focused on strategy and transformation in the financial services and telecommunications sectors, serving clients in areas such as corporate strategy, AI-based business modernisation, large-scale performance improvement, and customer-focused growth.

A member of Bain’s people & organisation and technology practices, Raiko Shareef has been with the firm for eight years across two stints, with an eighteen-month spell as Suncorp’s head of transformation in between. He earlier worked in New Zealand’s banking sector, before then completing an MBA with INSEAD and becoming an expert on transformation, including as to AI strategy and adoption.

Another technology and business transformation specialist, with a focus on the financial services and advanced manufacturing sectors, Amelia Achterstraat is a member of Bain & Company’s performance improvement and ‘full potential transformation’ practices, having joined the firm in 2017 and since served clients in Australia and abroad after earning an economics and law double with the University of Sydney.
