Technology strategy and M&A advisor CTO Labs relocates to new Sydney office
CTO Labs, a specialist technology advisor to private equity and corporate deal teams, has moved to a new office in Sydney.
Established in 2020, CTO Labs is an advisory firm specialising in technology due diligence, AI due diligence, cybersecurity and IT due diligence for private equity, venture and corporate investors. Deals the firm worked on this year include Quadrant’s investment in Endgame Analytics, TPG Capital’s acquisition of Tamaki Health, and Mercury Capital’s acquisition of Paramount Liquor – in all three cases providing buy-side services to the private equity buyer.
CTO Labs also works with investors and leaders of private sector businesses on technology strategy and advisory, advising its clients on how technology drives value, reduces risk, and enables strategic growth.
New office in Sydney’s CBD
Following a period of growth and senior hiring – CTO Labs has enjoyed a record year in volume of transactions supported and expanded the team to around 20 people – the boutique consultancy has relocated to a larger office located on Pitt Street, in the commercial centre of the CBD.
Joshua Hinton, Director and Co-Founder at CTO Labs, said the move comes in response to the firm’s expansion and brings the business closer to the investors, boards and portfolio company leaders it works with. The new office is also an upgrade, featuring a range of collaborative workspaces designed to support client conversations.
“We’re helping clients gain more clarity around technology as a key driver of value creation, whether that’s entering a new investment, optimising activities within a private equity backed enterprise, or preparing for the next ownership chapter. Our new Sydney base makes it much easier to do that,” Hinton said.
The announcement follows the company’s annual company offsite, which kicked off with an intimate family celebration in the new office, followed by two days in the Hunter Valley. “Our offsite is held to reconnect as a team on strategy, and reinforce collaborative ties within the team, as we prepare for our next phase of growth,” said Mike Mengell, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder at CTO Labs.
Alongside M&A-related work, one of the areas earmarked for growth is further expanding the firm’s Technology & AI Advisory practice. Led by former Strategy& partner Mukund Rajan (also ex-Oliver Wyman and EY), the practice advises investors and leadership teams on operational and technology transformation throughout the investment lifecycle.
