Ben Brazier leads Adelaide office of Pitcher Partners
National accounting, tax advisory and management consulting firm Pitcher Partners has named Ben Brazier as the new head of its Adelaide office.
The 27-year company veteran takes over the reins from Tom Verco, who similarly has been with the firm for over two decades and has led the Adelaide office for the past 17 years. Under Verco’s leadership, the Adelaide office – which before 2006 operated as Fennel Allen and Co – expanded its offerings to become the the full-service firm it is today, and nearly trebled its team.
“When I first joined the firm, and Tom became Managing Principal, there were only four Principals, and around 30 people. Now, we have nine Principals, and over 80 professionals,” said Brazier, who first met his predecessor when he joined the professional services firm in 1993.
Alongside growth, Verco also led significant organisational changes during his tenure, including the firm’s relocation five years ago from the Greenhill Road location to the current locale at Hutt Street in the central business district, and the establishment of the South Australian Foundation, which raises money for charities.
Adding that he is “thankful for Tom’s leadership and experience,” Brazier said that he looks forward to taking over the reins and is proud to have been handed a vote of confidence from the firm’s other leaders. Asked about his ambitions for 2020 and beyond, Brazier pointed at continued growth, innovation and attracting and retaining the best talent in the market.
Brazier leads the full spectrum of services offered by the Adelaide office, spanning audit, business recovery and insolvency, tax advisory and management consulting services to businesses and individuals in South Australia. The consultancy also supports clients with strategic advisory and outsourced finance, two areas of expertise that were recently added to the portfolio.
The new office leader has a background in a management consulting, cash flow analysis, tax planning, business structuring and corporate advisory to small-to-medium businesses across various industries. He also has a track record in mergers & acquisitions, having advised on several buy- and sell side transactions, with a focus on due diligence and transaction support.
In a dual role, Brazier also leads the superannuation division of Pitcher Partners, providing compliance and audit services to self-managed superannuation funds. Meanwhile, Verco is staying with the firm, and will return to a full client-facing role in the firm’s Private Business and Family Advisory (PBFA) division.
