Stephen Nisbet joins Pitcher Partners in Adelaide from BDO
Pitcher Partners has hired Stephen Nisbet from rival professional services firm BDO, to head up its Tax practice in Adelaide.
Nisbet brings to the tune of fifteen years of experience tax advisory and business services to the firm, gained during spells at BDO and KPMG. At the mid-tier firm, he was Tax Director with a focus on clients in the South Australian market, and at the Big Four player he latterly served as a Senior Manager in the firm’s Tax practice.
At Pitcher Partners, with around 1,400 staff Australia’s eighth largest accounting and advisory firm, Nisbet has been appointed leader of its Tax practice in Adelaide. “I consider myself fortunate to be offered responsibility for a practice that has almost 40 years of local experience and is already demonstrably strong,” he said.
Asked about why he decided to join Pitcher Partners, Nisbet pointed at the firm’s “significant growth” trajectory, and at the personal match with his own way of working. “I could tell very early on in discussions that what the firm was looking for in the role matched very well with my own hopes and values.”
Similarly to at BDO, Pitcher Partners is able to offer its clients an integrated approach for tax matters, blending its tax offerings with among others business planning, organisation, mergers & acquisitions, supply chain and governance services. “This ‘whole of firm’ approach to solving problems enables our tax advisors to operate proactively and identify opportunities outside of the box.”
While Pitcher Partners boasts “a ‘best on field’ skill set” in order to provide “technically accurate advice”, the firm’s deep local roots means that it is also ideally positioned to “attune its services to the needs of the Adelaide market.” This approach enables the firm to become a “trusted partner to business”, which is according to Nisbet key to cultivating strong relationships with clients.
The Adelaide office of Pitcher Partners is led by Ben Brazier. He took over at the helm just last month from Tom Verco, who led the office for the past 17 years.
