Shannon Sedgwick joins Ankura in its Sydney office

Ankura has appointed Shannon Sedgwick as a Senior Managing Director in its Sydney office. 

Sedgwick has joined the Cybersecurity & Governance, Risk & Compliance practice of the global consulting firm, handed the responsibility of leading the cybersecurity service portfolio in Australia and Asia Pacific.

“Shannon is a respected data privacy and cybersecurity leader, and I am pleased to welcome him to our Ankura team,” said Simon Michaels, Chairman of EMEA and APAC at Ankura. 

The new Senior Managing Director brings over fifteen years of experience to the role, focused on compliance, risk management and cyber security. After serving the Australian Army for six years, he worked as a leader at a risk consultancy in the US, after which he relocated back to Australia to join Deloitte, where he contributed to the growth of the firm’s Cyber Risk business in Canberra.

Shannon Sedgwick, Senior Managing Director at AnkuraThe past year Sedgwick worked for Verizon Enterprise Solutions as a Principal Consultant, focused on helping clients future-proof their organisation against external and internal cyber threats and on the implementation of new technologies.

At Ankura, a US-headquartered consulting firm with around 1,400 employees globally, Sedgwick will work with clients in industries including healthcare, government, finance, private equity, energy, infrastructure and professional services on their most pressing cyber challenges, as well as lead offering such as digital forensics and incident response management. 

His project experience includes leading the delivery of a more than $40 million technology transformation project, the delivery of a cybersecurity maturity review for an Australian Government Agency, providing incident response planning and advisory services to publicly listed Australian organisations, and cybersecurity audits for government owned critical infrastructure operators.

Alongside his work in the management consulting industry, Sedgwick serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of multiple not-for-profit organizations, with a focus on initiatives that tackle issues affecting the disabled, indigenous, and veteran communities.
