Alba Ruiz Leon leads Cornwall Insight's expansion in Australia

Energy research and consulting firm Cornwall Insight has appointed Alba Ruiz Leon as Managing Director of its Australian business.

Alba Ruiz Leon brings over 15 years of energy market experience to the UK-headquartered consulting firm, twelve of which have been gained in the Asia Pacific region. She has been tasked with building out Cornwall Insight’s presence in Australia, working with players in the energy value chain on marketing intelligence, consultancy and training.

Cornwall Insight was founded in 2005 and today the firm is one of the UK’s leading energy sector consultants. The firm setup its Australian operations in the middle of 2019, and has in the intervening months won a number of clients in the private and public sectors.

Ruiz Leon joins the firm from innogy Renewables, where she was Managing Director and led a team of 15 staff, covering the asset management, construction, operations, finances, commercial, regulatory, policy and marketing teams. She built the business scratch, and will now look to emulate this feat at Cornwall Insight.

Earlier in her career, Ruiz Leon held roles at Vestas Australia & New Zealand, EnergyAustralia and ACCIONA Energy Oceania and consulting companies such as AMO Renewables and GHD Advisory. She specialises in topics including the distributed energy market, hybrid energy solutions, energy sustainability, and power transmission.

Her track record of projects includes supporting and managing the development, construction and operating of Australia's largest solar farm, Limondale 349 MWp in New South Wales. The utility-scale farm is owned by Germany’s RWE Renewables.
