Tim de Sousa joins FTI Consulting's information governance unit
Global consulting firm FTI Consulting has expanded its Information Governance, Privacy & Security practice in Australia with the addition of Tim de Sousa.
Appointed a Senior Director, based in Sydney, Tim de Sousa brings more than 15 years of experience working at the intersection of privacy, information governance, emerging technologies and digital transformation throughout Australia, Asia-Pacific and Europe to the publicly listed consulting firm.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, De Sousa held senior data privacy and compliance roles with Westpac, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the New South Wales Government Department of Customer Service and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
He also held roles in the professional services industry, working as a consultant at specialist privacy and cyber security consultancy elevenM, and at law firm Lindsay Taylor Lawyers. Leveraging his advisory experience, De Sousa worked as an independent consultant for three years.
In his new role, he will support corporate and government clients with their privacy and cyber strategy, compliance and technology matters. “Tim is expert in the field,” said Sonia Cheng, a Senior Managing Director and Head of the firm’s Information Governance, Privacy & Security practice for the EMEA region.
The practice, which is led by US-based Jake Frazier (a Senior Managing Director), is part of FTI Consulting’s Technology division – one of the firm's five business units.
Earlier this year, FTI Consulting beefed up its team down under with Senior Managing Directors Wynand Mullins and John Batchelor, and Managing Director Neil Birchall.
