KPMG has named Carmen Bekker the new leader of its Customer, Brand & Marketing Advisory practice. 

Carmen Bekker steps into the shoes of Amanda Hicks, who in turn has been promoted to the role of National Managing Partner – Client Experience & Brand. She will remain a member of of KPMG’s national executive committee and continue to lead KPMG’s own corporate-wide brand and marketing strategy. 

Hicks – who joined KPMG in 2017 after the Big Four firm acquired Acuity Research & Insights, a boutique market research consultancy she founded in 2010 – led the Customer, Brand & Marketing Advisory practice for two years, growing the practice to its current 100-strong headcount.

This service line helps clients embed customer centricity within their strategy, operations and people. The arm offers a range of customer focused advisory services including customer transformation, experience, technology, sales and marketing transformation, customer intelligence, customer creative and design-led innovation. 

Welcoming Bekker as the new leader of the team, Hicks said, “We are excited to have someone of Carmen’s background and expertise to lead the next phase of the team’s growth. With her deep industry experience, Carmen brings a unique global perspective.” 

Bekker has over 20 years of experience servicing leading international brands in London, Europe and Australia. Prior to joining KPMG in 2017, she was Management Partner and European Marketing Director for WPP agency J Walter Thomson and prior to that Business Director at Saatchi & Saatchi in London and Sydney. 

“In the future, customer and citizen experience will be the key differentiator for organisations and governments. However, the future experience for brands and their customers will be very different, underpinned by constantly evolving technology. The Customer Brand & Marketing Advisory team is well placed to lead our clients through this time of disruption,” said Bekker on her new challenge.
