Accenture appoints NZ leaders Nick Mulcahy and Ben Morgan
Professional services firm Accenture has rejigged its New Zealand leadership, with Nick Mulcahy taking over as country head and Ben Morgan moving into a growth role.
Nick Mulcahy, the CEO of Accenture acquisition Zag, has been appointed as the New Zealand country managing director, stepping up from his role as Head of Technologies. His predecessor Ben Morgan will assume the newly-created position of New Zealand regional growth lead.
“Almost every business, across every industry, began a journey of reinvention these past couple of years and smart digital transformation will remain the critical success factor for businesses to innovate,” Mulcahy said upon his appointment. “The combination of our local and global expertise, deep knowledge of industries and multiple, complementary service offerings means we can deliver unparalleled value.”
Mulcahy first joined Accenture as a managing director in 2020 upon its acquisition of Wellington-headquartered SAP and cloud consultancy Zag for a reported $45 million, with Mulcahy having led a management buy-out of the company eight years earlier and taking over as CEO. Mulcahy has altogether spent close to two decades at Zag, with the company tripling its revenues under his leadership and expanding to a headcount of 230-plus.
He will now lead a team of around 500 consultants across offices in Wellington and Auckland, overseeing the firm’s Technology, Operations, Strategy & Consulting, and Accenture Song divisions – the latter being its customer experience and design division which was last week globally rebranded form Accenture Interactive.
With the addition of Zag and other recruits, Accenture has more than tripled its headcount in New Zealand in the past three years.
“It’s an important time for Accenture. We’ve made excellent strides in recent years where we’ve successfully diversified and scaled the business, and I am looking forward to accelerating the next stage of growth,” stated Morgan, who has been with the firm for more than six years and helmed it since early 2020.
Morgan will now focus on growth opportunities with clients and ecosystem partners across the region, as well as promoting New Zealand to Accenture’s global network.
Morgan joined Accenture Interactive in 2015 following a digital solutions and experience lead role with Air New Zealand, before which he spent almost four years with Deloitte as a senior manager with a focus on digital banking. In 2018 he was promoted to managing director, with responsibility for leading and growing Accenture’s New Zealand Digital team. In addition to his new role, Morgan has also been appointed to the Accenture Foundation board.
