Sententia Consulting in Australia’s fastest growing start-ups list

Founded on the eve of the international pandemic in 2020, Canberra-based Sententia Consulting has since grown rapidly into a near 20-strong firm and recently cracked the barrier of $5 million in revenues.

Established as a two-person firm in March 2020, Sententia Consulting launched with the ambition to “put clients first” while “driving positive change and societal impact.”

“We derive our name from the Latin for ‘truths’, and this reflects our core philosophy. We provide frank and fearless advice and will never shy away from difficult conversations. We help our clients to maximise the opportunities that come from this,” said co-founder Mark Harrison.

Since its inception, Sententia Consulting has built a growing roster of clients across Canberra’s (semi)public landscape, with clients including state and federal government agencies and non-profit organisations. In the process, the firm has expanded its team to 18 consultants and staff.

Services the consulting firm provides include strategy, risk management, probity & integrity, financial management & accounting, and project management. “We provide expert advice, followed up by genuine support to deliver meaningful change,” explained Harrison.

The firm’s rapid growth has not gone unnoticed. In last year’s Fast Starters list from Australian Financial Review (AFR), Sententia Consulting ranked 28th. The list, in its 22nd year, recognises the growth of Australian start-ups (ranked by CAGR of revenue over three financial years) which started trading on or after July 1, 2017, and recorded at least $500,000 of revenue in 2021-22.

Earlier in 2022, Sententia Consulting was named one of Australia’s leading consulting firms by Consultancy.org, among others in the public sector category.

Looking ahead, Harrison said that the firm is “well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory and make a significant impact in the Australian business community.”
