BC Strategy continues to grow team of ex-MBB consultants
Established in 2013, boutique consultancy BC Strategy has grown its team of exclusively MBB alumni to approximately fifteen, most recently adding Haben Mehari Redae and Filip Renholm.
BC Strategy has added former McKinsey associate Haben Mehari Redae to its team in Sydney, in line with the firm’s exclusively MBB alumni staffing strategy.
A former civil engineer, Redae spent over three years at McKinsey & Company in Ethiopia advising on corporate strategy and business transformations across a wide range of industries. He follows Filip Renholm, who joined BC earlier this year from Bain & Company.
BC Strategy was founded in 2013 by managing director Giorgio Baracchi – formerly a senior consultant at Bain – with the concept of providing a more flexible and cost-effective service to clients while still guaranteeing top-level strategy and management consulting skills harnessed at the world’s biggest and most prestigious advisories: McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Company, collectively known as the MBB.
The firm is described as typically performing the grunt work of strategy consulting, such as analysis and project management, but offers a wide range of services across industries including strategy development, business transformation, operational improvement and commercial due diligence among other areas. With a roll-call of clients headlined by Qantas, Telstra, Coles and the Commonwealth Bank, the approach appears to be paying dividends.
“Our support model ensures that clients do not pay for the overheads typically present in the larger firms, enabling us to offer highly competitive fees,” Baracchi told the Australian Financial Review in an interview, which noted that the firm was generating revenue in the millions. “A BC Strategy consultant’s daily rate is typically 50 per cent-plus cheaper than an equivalent MBB resource and is highly competitive with other boutique offerings.”
Despite the disruption of the global pandemic and chronic staff shortages, BC Strategy has over the past years grown its team from around ten pre-pandemic to fifteen today.
Others to have joined the firm over the past twelve months include: François Moneuse, a former BCG consultant in Paris and London; Beril Bal (ex-Bain and Simon-Kucher in Turkey and Singapore); Emma De Baets (three years with McKinsey in Brussels); and former Chile-based BCG consultant Emilia Díaz.
