Strategy& partner Peter Hammond goes out on his own
Strategy& partner Peter Hammond has decided to go out on his own – continuing to follow his passion under the banner of Hammond Advisory.
Peter Hammond spent more than a decade and a half at the global strategy consulting firm and brings altogether 25 years of transport sector experience to his new venture.
Dating back to its Booz & Company days, Hammond first joined Strategy& in Sydney in 2007 after an earlier public service career in transport, most notably as the general manager of planning and development for the NSW State Transit Authority – a role he held for more than seven and a half years.
Hammond has also served as a strategic transport advisor for Sydney Metro, and earlier spent time as senior traffic engineer with Inner West Council.
“Sixteen years ago I decided to step out of my comfort zone by joining a global strategy consulting firm Strategy&,” Hammond stated in a well-received farewell post to LinkedIn. “My ambition was to learn new skills and gain broader experience as a way to make a positive difference in my field. It has been a wonderful journey and while I am much richer for the professional growth, the opportunity for inner growth has also been immense.”
During his career, Hammond has provided strategic transportation advice to both global and national government and private sector clients in areas such as strategy and policy development, infrastructure and program investments, and sustainable transportation initiatives. He describes himself as passionate about the sector with the belief that connectivity and mobility are essential for growth and prosperity and crucial for building inclusive, resilient communities.
“I am excited by my next adventure which involves continuing to follow my passion: enhancing people’s quality of life by improving connectivity and mobility. There is much to be done and no greater opportunity for innovation. It is a particularly exciting time to be helping clients navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly emerging trends and technologies transforming the transportation industry.”
Last week, another Strategy& partner, Mohammad Chowdhury, also departed the firm to launch his own consultancy Long Street Advisors.
