Manningham mayor Deirdre Diamante has passed on ownership of her 2010-founded advisory Mia Consulting to Diem Huynh – with the business now rebranded as Sedo Group.

Melbourne-based advisory Mia Consulting Services has rebranded as the Sedo Group as of the beginning of the month, with founder and director Deirdre Diamante – the mayor of Manningham Council in the city’s northeastern suburbs – stepping down as principal and handing the reins to new owner and managing director Diem Huynh.

Huynh has been with the consultancy since 2019, latterly in the role of chief operations officer. Diamante will meanwhile remain affiliated with the firm as a specialist advisor.

“Late last year, Mia Consulting embarked on a period of sustained growth and change,” Huynh stated. “In many discussions with our leadership group, team and clients, we considered how we could continue to grow the business dynamically by enhancing our service offerings, consolidating our expertise, and expanding our client base. I am excited about the opportunities this new business presents for our clients in both the government and private sectors.”

Mia Consulting was established by Diamante back in 2010, leveraging more than a decade and a half of strategic and operational public sector experience at both the state and federal levels, particularly in the area of procurement. The consultancy provides advice and support to clients on business and procurement practices in the public and private sectors, with a focus on helping companies generate business opportunities with government.

Huynh states that Sedo Group will continue to provide the core expertise that Mia has been known for – in areas such as engagement strategies, tendering support, project management, and tailored workshops – while adding a new “Growth Dynamic Model” service offering to assist businesses in reaching their goals.

The vision, she says, is for Sedo Group to be a leading advisory in “helping public and private sector organisations do business together.”

“Deirdre and I have worked together closely on the transformation of Mia Consulting into the new company, which will have strong values around customer service and service delivery,” Huynh said in a post to LinkedIn. “Deirdre is very pleased the business can continue its journey under my guidance and looks forward to watching it thrive. On behalf of the firm, I thank all our clients, partners and networks for your support over the past 13 years.”

Huynh joined the consultancy at the beginning of 2019, crossing from a program manager position at Melbourne Airport. Having kicked off her career at KPMG on the back of a commerce degree at La Trobe, Huynh has since amassed significant public and public sector experience, including via consulting roles at the Victorian treasury department and Department of State Development, Business and Innovation.

“Diem is an accomplished business owner and operator with strong, and aligned, values around customer service and service delivery,” commented Diamante, who was elected as mayor toward the end of last year. “For me, I will move to a consulting role with Sedo Group and look forward to the opportunities that role brings. A huge thank you to every person that has supported me on this incredible business journey over 13 years.”
