Electricity operator Western Power adds more consultants to board
The Western Australian government has made a number of appointments to the board of electricity network operator Western Power, with each of the directors bringing a background in consulting.
Pollination’s global projects lead Rob Grant has been appointed to the board of state electricity network operator Western Power alongside former KPMG risk consulting partner Andrea Hall, with FTI Consulting senior managing director Monish Paul also returning.
Western Power chair Denise Goldsworthy – who also operates her own consultancy Alternate Futures – said she looked forward to working with the new directors in support of WA’s emissions reduction agenda.
“Western Power plays a critical role in enabling the community and industry to reach their decarbonisation goals while continuing to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and affordable power in the face of climate change impacts,” Goldsworthy said.
A clean energy veteran, Rob Grant joined Pollination in Perth in the middle of last year as the climate investment and advisory firm’s global head of projects, crossing from an energy and green hydrogen director position at Fortescue. Previously, he was the CEO of Pacific Hydro, then one of Australia’s largest renewable energy providers, before going on to serve as Asia Pacific head of SNC-Lavalin among a number of other leadership roles.
Commenting on his appointment, Grant said he was excited to join the Western Power board at a transformational moment in Western Australia’s energy history, pointing to the grid’s rapidly growing supply from renewables in its journey toward 100 percent. Western Power is currently responsible for servicing 2.3 million customers via what is the world’s largest isolated grid, which last summer reached a peak share of 84 percent renewables.
Like Grant, Monish Paul crossed to his new senior role at FTI Consulting in the middle of last year, having previously spent close to two decades as a partner at Deloitte and IBM – the latter where he served as digital strategy lead before co-founding Adar Consulting in 2020.
A member of FTI Consulting’s economics consulting practice out of Perth, he altogether brings more than 25 years of advisory and public sector experience to the Western Power board.
Meanwhile, Andrea Hall spent more than two decades at KPMG across two stints until her retirement from the firm’s partnership in 2012, prior to which she led the Perth office’s internal audit, risk & compliance services division. Hall brings extensive governance experience to her new role, including as a current member and risk/audit committee chair of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, Core Lithium, Perenti and Fremantle Dockers boards.
