Alvarez & Marsal adds managing directors across Australia
Alvarez & Marsal has added Vaughan Lindfield as a managing director to its Perth team, while former PwC colleagues Ellie Atkinson and Daniel Heywood join in Brisbane and Melbourne.
An expert in tax advisory to the mining and infrastructure sectors, Lindfield joins Alvarez & Marsal in Perth following the launch of its 65-strong local tax line earlier this year, which is led by ex-EY partner Sean Keegan.
Atkinson and Heywood have meanwhile joined Alvarez & Marsal’s respective Performance Improvement and Disputes & Investigations practices out of Brisbane and Melbourne, with all three recruits having spent time at both EY and PwC.
Having served for the past eight years as a partner in PwC’s corporate tax team, Lindfield altogether brings three decades worth of tax advisory experience, including in the areas of cross-border M&A and due diligence, corporate restructures, and government privatisations.
Prior to PwC, Lindfield also spent close to five years as a partner at Ernst & Young, with an earlier role as head of tax at Alinta. His appointment follows that of Tjeerd Groot last month, doubling the number of managing directors in Perth to six since the start of the year.
Atkinson joins A&M after a brief partnership stint at PwC, where she focused on decarbonisation in the energy and utilities sectors. In addition to energy transition, Atkinson also advises the heavy industries on organisational effectiveness and operational improvement.
Previously, Atkinson led the business transformation team in EY’s Brisbane office, where she spent close to a decade preceded by a similar-length stint at Arup in Australia and the UK, including as a senior project manager and structural engineer.
Heywood likewise crosses from PwC, where he has been a partner in Melbourne since 2021, before which he spent time at Clayton Utz, EY and more than half a decade at Deloitte gaining forensic accounting experience in complex disputes and investigations across a wide range of industries.
Other senior joiners
Additionally, Alvarez & Marsal has brought in a number of senior directors in recent months, including, outside of its tax division; ex-BCG project leader Vijay Chari in Melbourne; former New York-based McKinsey engagement manager Amy Shi in Sydney; and KordaMentha forensics executive director pair Magda Di Vincenzo and Anthony Ranauro in Melbourne and Perth.
