Deloitte acquires IT and data management consultancy NeoData
Deloitte has boosted its digital practice in Australia with the addition of NeoData Australia to its Technology Consulting vertical. The new firm will integrate with Deloitte’s team effective from the 12th of August, while the CEO and CFO of NeoData will join as Partners.
Based in Melbourne, NeoData is a consulting firm that specialises in information and data management. The firm offers support with decision making and planning, in addition to identifying strategic options, operating primarily in the Industry 4.0 domains of data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, among others.
The firm will now contribute to Deloitte’s operations, particularly to boost its Oracle capabilities. The move comes at a time when several consulting firms in Australia are ramping up their Oracle expertise, as the cloud market in the country expands substantially. Accenture recently acquired an Oracle specialist firm by the name of PrimeQ.
NeoData will now boost Deloitte’s Oracle offering, spreading across the Big Four accounting and advisory firm’s Melbourne, Sydney and Perth offices. NeoData is home to 20 members of staff, who will all join Deloitte, in addition to CEO Tas Osianlis and COO Robert Loughnane, who have been appointed Partners.
Chief Technology Officer at the firm Gergo Backsai, meanwhile, will join Deloitte as a Principal. This is Deloitte’s third acquisition in Australia and New Zealand’s digital space this year, the first being the acquisition of New Zealand based CloudinIT in January, and the second being the acquisition of The Terrace Initiative in April.
The string of acquisitions not only reflects the substantial growth that Deloitte has been experiencing in recent years – with five consecutive years of double digit revenue growth – but also the increasingly central role that the digital sphere is playing in the region.
Commenting on the new addition, CEO at Deloitte Richard Deutsch said, “We continue to see significant client demand for business-focused consulting enabled by deep technology expertise. This transaction – our first for the new financial year – builds on other technology additions we have made in recent years, as well as enhancing the value we can bring to Deloitte’s formal alliance with Oracle that includes an Asia Pacific team of more than 3,500 Oracle cloud experts.”
Deloitte’s Oracle Lead and Partner at its Enterprise Technology vertical Peter Nikandrow added, “NeoData is Oracle’s strongest and most experienced Business Intelligence and Analytics implementation partner in the ANZ region. We’ve worked with Tas and his team for over a year on multiple projects; so we’ve been courting for a while and it’s great to be able to take our relationship to the next level and have the team join as part of the Deloitte family.”
