Fusion5 buys 80-person Kiwi consultancy IntegrationWorks
Technology consultancy Fusion5 has struck its second deal in New Zealand in as many months, adding Wellington-headquartered IT services provider IntegrationWorks and a team of around 80.
Established in 2005, IntegrationWorks has six offices across Australia and New Zealand, as well as an outlet in the UK. Its Australian business, including branches in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne is led by managing director Ian Richards.
Effective from the beginning of August, the IntegrationWorks acquisition follows that of fellow Wellington-based consultancy GoCloud in June, which in turn comes on the back of its purchase by private equity firm BHG Capital.
“IntegrationWorks has significant skills and expertise and over a wide range of integration solutions and technologies,” said Fusion5 chief Sven Martin. “The acquisition will see the addition of 80 highly skilled integration consultants to our existing integration & innovation pillar, and bolster our ability to compete and deliver customer projects even more effectively in this space.”
Martin added that Fusion5 saw huge potential to extend its reach through the addition, including into the UK market over the long-term. Established in 2002 by former Capgemini vice president Rebecca Tohill, the tech consultancy currently has offices in every mainland Australian capital together with four across New Zealand, boasting a headcount now pushing towards the 800-mark.
Speaking on the deal, IntegrationWorks co-founder and CTO Grant McKeen said that the company could offer more to its clients as part of Fusion5: “Our customers will be exposed to a raft of new opportunities and services, with access to Fusion5’s significant project management office and support team, as well as a broad range of business solutions they’d normally need to go elsewhere for.”
According to reports, IntegrationWorks, which serves both the public sector and private enterprises, will rebrand at a later date but remain an ‘independent pillar’ under the Fusion5 umbrella. The firm last year added Vigilant IT and Liberate IT, along with Adelaide-based consultancy Empyreal Solutions the year prior and Kiwi business intelligence consultancy Mindfull in 2020.
Richards, who has led the local business since 2015, said, “The acquisition is a welcome opportunity to expand the services offered to IntegrationWorks customers while ensuring they still have access to the trademark expertise and quality they have come to depend on. Best of all, due to their wide coverage in New Zealand and Australia, Fusion5’s customer services are all delivered locally.”
