Former BCG’ers Stefan Fothe and Katherine Wilson launch Momentum Partners
Two former Boston Consulting Group capability leaders – Stefan Fothe and Katherine Wilson – have banded together to launch organisational development consultancy Momentum Partners.
Wilson has been with BCG for more than a decade between Australia and Europe, most recently as A/NZ marketing & engagement director, while Fothe also spent close to a decade at the firm in senior learning & development roles.
Momentum Partners aims to support executives and leadership teams in driving organisational change, mixing “the business savviness of management consultancy with expertise in adult learning, psychology and system dynamics.”
To now be integrated with Momentum Partners, Fothe has operated his own boutique capability consultancy Ownity out of Melbourne since 2017, which has seen him work with numerous organisations both in Australia and abroad, including sustainability consultancy Pollination and a four-year contract with BCG, supporting its teams on leadership and development topics.
One glowing endorsement came from BCG partner Luke Raffin; “I have worked with a number of executive coaches throughout my career, and Stefan is without peer. He very quickly cuts through the typical coaching frameworks and establishes an authentic, candid relationship. His questions and observations are truly perceptive and targeted, rapidly uncovering new insights.”
Prior to establishing Ownity, Fothe spent five years at BCG between Munich and Melbourne, migrating to Australia to lead learning & development for the local branch. Prior to that, he was an e-learning consultant at Siemens and had close ties with academia, having completed a doctorate in business education and instructional design with the University of Jena in Germany.
A BSc graduate of the University of Sydney with an MBA from INSEAD, Wilson has meanwhile been with BCG for the past thirteen and a half years (after completing earlier internships with PwC and the UN in Geneva), including stints in London and Amsterdam, during that time also serving as a learning & leadership director prior to her most recent role in marketing & engagement.
“I’m very happy to share that Katherine and I have joined forces,” Fothe stated upon Momentum Partners’ recent launch. “It’s a big jump from BCG, but the momentum we’ve been experiencing straight away with our clients shows us that we are where we need to be. For now, I just want to share that I’m energised and humbled that Katherine and I are now business partners.”
According to the consultancy’s website, the pair will work with organisations to transform working models by enhancing collaboration, strategic drive and self-leadership, and guide executives and leadership teams through organisational change via coaching and thought partnership, stating that their speciality is in supporting former management consultants now in executive corporate roles.
“I’m excited to share that Stefan and I have joined forces to launch Momentum Partners, a boutique organisational development consultancy,” Wilson said. “We work with ambitious executive leaders to create momentum by building their team's practical skills, creating head-space and unleashing positive energy. I'm really excited to work with Stefan on this because he knows his stuff.”
