Nikolas Hatzistergos and Marco Carlei elected to global Praxity board

Global professional services alliance Praxity has elected its latest management board, with two Australia-based practitioners among the twelve-strong body: Nikolas Hatzistergos and Marco Carlei.
Hatzistergos currently serves as executive chairman of William Buck’s NSW business, while Carlei is managing director of SW International out of Melbourne, having helped to establish the Chinese-headquartered advisory in Australia.
Formed in 2007 and headquartered in the UK, Praxity is the world’s largest alliance of independent accounting and consulting firms, with members in more than 120 countries generating combined revenues in excess of $10 billion.
“We’re excited to present our new management board: a group of accomplished professionals who will guide our Alliance’s strategic direction, champion global collaboration, and drive Praxity’s continued growth,” the association stated. “By combining seasoned expertise with fresh perspectives, this leadership team is well-positioned to serve our members worldwide.”
Nikolas Hatzistergos has been in the advisory business for more than 45 years, joining William Buck in 1991 and serving for more than a decade as national chair and long-term New South Wales managing partner, before handing the reins to Greg Travers in mid-2023 to take up the executive chairman post. He has also been a member of Praxity’s governing council since 2013.
Marco Carlei’s advisory career likewise spans more than four decades, becoming a partner at Moore Stephens back in 1987 before being appointed managing director of its Australian network and Melbourne practice in 2010. The latter broke off five years later to form what what was then ShineWing, which Carlei led until stepping up to SW International managing director in 2017.
Management board
Chaired by Steffen Ahrens, the managing partner of German member FALK, the remainder of the Praxity board alongside CEO Samantha Louis is made up of leaders from the UK, Italy, US, Canada and Mexico, including three from the recently merged Forvis Mazars, the third of Praxity’s members in Australia. Notably, that trio’s terms are listed as expiring in the middle of this year.
