Robert Prime succeeds Jamie Dreckow as Nexia’s managing partner in Adelaide

The Adelaide branch of Nexia – Nexia Edwards Marshall – has appointed Robert Prime as its new managing partner, succeeding Jamie Dreckow after almost a decade in the top role.
Prime has been a member of Nexia’s business advisory division since joining the firm as a director in 2013, and was admitted to its partnership four years on. Having kicked off his career at Mann Judd and Deloitte, he then spent a period abroad before returning to Australia and later working at KPMG.
Dreckow, meanwhile, has been with Nexia for more than three and a half decades – almost from the beginning of his career – and has overseen the Adelaide office since 2016. He will continue to work as a partner within Nexia’s audit & assurance team.
“I’m honoured by this appointment and look forward to continuing to build on our firm’s strong, 60-plus year legacy,” Prime stated. “I look forward to working with our talented team to help support our clients to achieve their business and personal goals, and thank Jamie for the fantastic work he’s done. I’m excited to build on that great momentum.”
A commerce graduate of the University of Adelaide, Prime commenced his accounting career in 1995 before embarking on a six-year stint in the UK and Ireland’s financial services sector, including time with Citigroup and the Bank of Ireland. On return to Australia, he spent six years at NAB prior to crossing to KPMG in 2010 and then joining Nexia.
Along with accounting and taxation, Prime has over his career developed expertise in a range of corporate finance matters such as sales & acquisitions, due diligence, valuations, and strategic planning, and served a cross-section of large and small clients operating across a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, transport, retail, mining, and automotive among others.
Now, Prime will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 140 professionals, including around a dozen business advisory, audit & assurance, and forensic accounting partners between Adelaide and the firm’s sub-branch in Darwin. Meanwhile, his appointment coincides with that of Matthew Howell as Nexia International’s recently-installed global CEO.
