Alchemy Technology Consulting opens for business in Perth and Melbourne

A new IT advisory has launched in Australia – Alchemy Technology Consulting – led by managing director Duncan Hayes in Perth and director Ryan Grunwaldt based out of Melbourne.
Duncan Hayes most recently served as managing director for enterprise content management (ECM) at Atturra, after the firm acquired his Perth-based business Hayes Information Systems for $8.5 million in its 2022 expansion to Western Australia.
Grunwaldt meanwhile joins Alchemy Technology Consulting after the past three years as Asia Pacific head of professional services at Wipro acquisition Rizing, with the pair further joined by former Atturra general manager Amanda Cox as director of client engagement.
With a current focus on SAP and ServiceNow – the latter with which the start-up has already formed a strategic partnership – Alchemy will offer a range of end-to-end business transformation services covering tech strategy, systems development & optimisation, design & implementation, project and change management, and ongoing support.
Hayes brings more than two decades worth of IT industry experience to the new endeavour. Prior to building up OpenText partner Hayes IS alongside Cox from 2014, he was director of operations at WA Cisco consultancy R1i Technology, before which spent time in various senior roles at Empired (since bought by Capgemini), VMware, EMC, and Dimension Data.
Now, it seems, Hayes wants to get back to the rush of running a start-up, saying that establishing and growing Hayes IS had “been a truly great experience” at the time of its sale to Atturra; “We’re changing hands for the right reasons, to legitimately set the business up for growth, and Atturra can provide the experience we need.”
Supporting Hayes in his latest venture is Grunwaldt, who likewise brings more than two decades worth of cross-sector IT experience to the table in both Australia and the UK, including stints at the Commonwealth Bank and WA state electricity company Synergy prior to first joining Rizing as an EAM (enterprise asset management) senior project manager in 2018.
Grunwaldt said of his new role: “I’m passionate about building high-performing teams with a strong culture and values focused on our people, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with Duncan in bringing our shared experiences and values to build a team focused on our people’s professional development and well-being to deliver true value for clients.”
As per its website, Alchemy sells itself on close collaboration with clients and gaining a deep understanding of their business in order to provide quicker responses and build meaningful, long-term partnerships built on trust, integrity, and ethical practices, with a further focus on investing in and developing its people to drive excellence and innovation.
