Rackspace appoints Adhil Badat as managing director for Asia Pacific and Japan
Global cloud services and technology firm Rackspace Technology has elevated Sydney-based regional COO Adhil Badat as its new managing director for the Asia Pacific and Japan.
Adhil Badat joined the global tech firm from Telstra in 2021 as ANZ head of customer success, before which he worked at DXC Technology. Now, from Sydney, he will oversee a regional business with further offices in Melbourne, India, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
“Adhil’s appointment is a testament to his exceptional capabilities and deep understanding of the cloud landscape,” stated Rackspace chief revenue officer Vivek Kwatra. “His experience and vision will be instrumental in accelerating our growth and solidifying our position as a leader in the Asia Pacific and Japan markets.”
Badat brings over two decades of IT industry experience to his new role, with early time at Fujitsuand eight years at Hewlett Packard prior to DXC and Telstra, the latter where he served as a senior lead for technology and solutions sales before then crossing to Rackspace, last being promoted from APJ head of customer success to regional chief operating officer in mid-2023.

The Texas-based firm has been stepping up its Asia Pacific ambitions in recent years, including through the purchase of Just Analytics in Singapore in 2022. The firm also recently recruited industry veteran Wade Weirman as principal data lead for Australia from Mantel Group, where he has most recently been serving as AWS data practice lead.
