Simon Croft joins M&A consultancy Equiteq as Managing Director in Australia

Equiteq, an international investment bank and M&A advisory firm, has strengthened its ANZ-focused senior team with Simon Croft, who joins as a Managing Director in Melbourne.
Simon Croft brings 15+ years of experience advising companies on cross-border strategic M&A, capital raising and private equity transactions, with a focus on the technology, IT and digital transformation sectors.
He joins Equiteq from another M&A consultancy, where he spent seven years working across its offices in London and Melbourne (which he setup in 2023), specialising in technology consulting and IT services deals.
Commenting on his move to Equiteq, Croft said: “I’m excited to join Equiteq at a time of such strong momentum across the firm. With Australia and New Zealand becoming increasingly important growth markets for global technology and technology services acquirers and investors, I see huge opportunity across the region for high quality assets to achieve premium exit outcomes.”
With offices in New York, Boston, London, Singapore and Sydney, Equiteq is one of the leading global M&A consultancies specialised in professional services and technology. The firm closes to roughly two dozen deals per year, and has a long list of awards under its belt, including being named ‘Best Global M&A Advisory Firm’ and ‘Best Boutique Investment Bank’ at industry awards.
ANZ deals
Equiteq’s ANZ team recently acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Proximity on sale to Systems Planning and Analysis, and earlier, the firm orchestrated the sale of several companies to Deloitte Consulting. The firm also guided JDS on its sale to AC3, and Aware Group on its sale to HSO.
On the buy-side, Equiteq among others supported Australia-headquartered TSA Riley with closing several acquisitions, including deals nationally, in Asia and in the UK.
Welcoming Croft to the firm, Equiteq’s ANZ Managing Director Alex Monck said: “We’re thrilled to expand our ANZ team. With market activity accelerating across Australia and New Zealand, as well as the broader APAC region, Simon’s appointment positions Equiteq to continue to provide clients market-leading outcomes.”
Sylvaine Masson, Managing Director and Head of APAC, added: “We are delighted to welcome Simon to the team. After a record year in 2024, we are excited about continuing this momentum by strengthening our leadership team in APAC even further, and turbo-charge our growth in Australia.”
