Brennan bolsters senior leadership team with new appointments and recruits

Technology consulting and services firm Brennan has made several key leadership appointments, including new directors of cyber and digital and two manager recruits for its regional branches.

Former Macquarie Technology Group chief operating officer Robert Hanimyan has come on board as Brennan’s new director of digital, while Peter Soulsby steps up from his role as cybersecurity head to director, joining the executive leadership team.

Meanwhile the firm has recruited Mathew Cremen and Karen Murfett as respective branch managers for its Newcastle and newly-established Tasmania office, together bringing more than four decades of local IT industry experience and knowledge.

“These leadership appointments, including the addition of branch managers in Tasmania and Newcastle, underscore our commitment to delivering true performance for customers nationwide – powered by local expertise on the ground,” said founder and managing director Dave Stevens.

Peter Soulsby

Based out of Melbourne, Soulsby has been with Brennan since late 2023 overseeing cyber consulting, strategy, engineering, and SOC services, having previously served as a security director at DXC Technology and NTT Data in the five prior to joining. Earlier, he had also spent seven years with NTT Data in South Africa, after originally studying a commerce degree in accounting.

Soulsby’s elevation to director, says Stevens, reflects a growing national urgency; “Cybersecurity has become a front-line issue for Australian business, with the stakes being higher than ever. Embedding cybersecurity at the executive level sends a clear message to our customers; we understand that trust and resilience are central to their success.”

Robert Hanimyan

Cited by Stevens for his top-level leadership skills and proven experience in driving innovation and scaling modern digital businesses, Hanimyan crosses to Brennan in Sydney after spending the past two years as COO of Macquarie Technology Group, prior to which he held a variety of leadership positions at Amazon Web Services and was national services director for DXC Connect.

“Brennan has developed a solid reputation in Australia, underpinned by the company’s values,” Hanimyan said upon joining. “Brennan’s vision to grow globally, and the opportunity to further develop the digital practice as one of the key investments in its growth plans makes this an exciting place to be. We have all the ingredients needed to make a real impact.”

Branch managers

Heading Brennan’s new Tasmania branch based in Hobart, Karen Murfett brings close to three decades worth of local ICT experience to the role, including most recently as a state sales manager at Data#3, while Mathew Cremen joins as Newcastle branch manager from a sales director role at local IT consultancy New Era Technology, with previous times spent at Pinpoint I.T.
