Sharvek Naidu takes over as leader of KPMG’s 350-person Fiji business

The head of the country’s audit and offshoring practices, Sharvek Naidu, has taken over as the new managing partner of KPMG in Fiji, succeeding Lisa Apted after six years in the top role.

Naidu has been with KPMG for almost three decades, including half of that time spent in the firm’s Sydney office. More recently, he established and led Fiji Dynamix, the local delivery centre which supports KPMG Australia with 200-odd staff.

KPMG’s Fijian branch formally integrated with Australia’s ‘Enterprise’ division alongside its Papua New Guinea cousin in 2021, and has since expanded through the acquisition of Microsoft specialist Acton and a new one office in Nadi and upgrade in Suva.

“With over 25 years of international experience, Sharvek is an outstanding leader, known for building trusted client relationships, driving strategic growth, and fostering a culture of collaboration and ethical excellence,” said Naomi Mitchell, who took over from Paul Howes as national managing partner of KPMG’s mid-market private enterprise practice in 2023.

Suva-born but Nadi-based, Sharvek joined KPMG’s Lautoka office as a graduate in 1997, before later spending a decade and half with the firm in Sydney and Parramatta, during which time he also established an offshoring practice in India. He returned to Fiji as a partner in 2016, and has most recently served as head of audit as well as leading Fiji Dynamix.

As for his client work, Sharvek leads local audits of major global and national organisations along with providing due diligence, compliance and regulatory reporting services for clients across a wide range of sectors, including tourism and aviation, telecommunications, media, retail, financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, and the public sector among others.

Leadership succession

Sharvek takes over from ongoing business & tax advisory lead partner Lisa Apted, who likewise joined the firm as a graduate in 1991, spent time with KPMG in Sydney, and has led its Fiji practice since the start of 2020. Regionally, the combined South Pacific business is headed by Zanie Theron, while Peter Bentley leads KPMG’s outsourced solutions service line from Sydney.

“I feel proud to take on this leadership position in the next step of my career after having joined KPMG as a graduate, and look forward to building on the recent successes of KPMG Fiji and assisting clients and staff.” said Sharvek, who will now have to further manage his time between Fiji and Australia, where his family and school-age children continue to reside.

With an aim of reaching 500 people, KPMG in Fiji has in recent years grown its headcount to more than 350 employees, including around ten partners. The firm also services clients in countries such the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Samoa.
