L.E.K. Consulting’s Sydney leader David Ferrarin joins oOh! Media board
David Ferrarin, head of L.E.K. Consulting’s Sydney office and Australian media, entertainment & technology practice leader, has been appointed to the board of out-of-home giant oOh! Media.
Ferrarin has been with L.E.K. Consulting the for close to three decades, including time spent with the global strategy consultancy in the US and Asia, and has advised numerous media industry boards and C-suites over the course of his career.
He will join the oOh! Media board as a director from the middle of next month, and is also ironically the co-founder of OpenDirector, a web database covering director and executive movements, performance analysis, and remuneration insights.
“I am delighted to welcome David to the board,” said oOh! chair Tony Faure, who will also hand over chair duties in May after more than eight years in the role. “David brings a strong strategic mindset, an action orientation, and deep experience in complex operational environments, especially in the media sector. I look forward to him making a valuable contribution.”
As per a note to the ASX and in line with governance protocols, Ferrarin in his new role will refrain from providing advisory services to clients operating in the out-of-home segment while continuing on at L.E.K. where in addition to media, entertainment & technology he also leads the firm’s consumer & retail practice for A/NZ while having overseen its Sydney office since early 2024.
Ferrarin’s company bio reads; “David has a reputation for successfully delivering complex, multi-stakeholder engagements in both the private and public sectors. He has advised clients on a variety of commercial issues including digital strategy and organisational transformation, business growth, mergers & acquisitions, advanced analytics, and sporting media rights.”
oOh! Media
Established in 1989 and most recently listed in 2014, oOh! Media is the Australian advertising sector’s largest ‘out-of-home’ player, claiming more than 35,000 digital and standard assets across its national footprint and a weekly metropolitan reach of 99 percent. The company employs upwards of 900 people, with revenue last year pushing towards the $700 million mark.
Ferrarin’s appointment to the board however continues a period of leadership transition. Alongside Faure’s retirement, oOh! Media at the end of last year welcomed former SBS managing director James Taylor as its new CEO. A Deloitte strategy consulting director prior to his time at the public broadcaster, Taylor and Ferrarin add to an already strong advisory influence at the company.
Other members of oOh!’s six-person board include former PwC veteran and assurance COO David Wiadrowski, and one-time Unisys New Zealand managing director Tim Miles, while chief strategy & transformation officer Andrew Every is also a PwC alumnus. In a twist, founder Brendon Cook, who departed at the end of 2020, has since served as advisory board chair of IT consultancy Brennan.
