Ivar Berget added to the partnership of Canberra consultancy ConceptSix
Canberra-based business and technology consultancy ConceptSix has promoted Ivar Berget to partner, joining Brendan Woodruff and co-founder John Sidey, who launched the firm in 2020.
Ivar Berget crossed to ConceptSix from Kiah Consulting toward the end of 2023, having previously worked at Kearney and in strategy and leadership roles at Coles and Online Education Services (OES) following time in the Norwegian defence forces.
ConceptSix was established by Sidey and fellow former MXA partner Paul Dearlove, who had both also worked together at Ernst & Young and Booz & Company (now Strategy&), with ex-MXA principal Woodruff later coming on board and being elevated to partner back in 2024.
“This promotion reflects Ivar’s leadership, impact and alignment with how we work at ConceptSix, and is well deserved after a huge contribution to the firm over the last three years,” Sidey said of the latest addition. “We’re thrilled to welcome Ivar to the partnership and look forward to his continued contribution to the firm.”
Berget spent more than a decade in the Norwegian Armed Forces and then time with the country’s Ministry of Defence prior to arriving downunder and joining Kearney as a management consultant in Melbourne in 2010, having earlier completed a masters in international affairs with the Australia National University and an MBA from ESCP Business School.
His three years at Kearney were focused on the retail & FMCG sector, and from there he spent another three years at Coles and then branched out into education as strategy executive director at SEEK-owned OES before later joining Kiah Consulting in Canberra in late 2021. As a partner, he now leads ConceptSix’s strategy consulting team, with a continued focus on defence and education.
“ConceptSix is the perfect place to support great clients, deliver purposeful, quality strategy work, and grow a business alongside talented people,” Berget said. “Becoming a partner means I can continue doing the work I love, contribute to building the business, and take on the trust and responsibility that comes with that, and I’m excited and grateful for what’s ahead.”
In addition to being credited with playing a key role in expanding ConceptSix’s defence and education practices, Berget has also undertaken projects for other public sector clients such as Services Australia and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with the firm grouping its range of services around business and technology strategy, transformation leadership, and design.
