BRG strengthens Cyber and Forensic Technology practice with Avram Lum

BRG, a global management consulting firm, has appointed Avram Lum as a director in its Sydney office.

A member of the Cyber and Forensic Technology practice, Lum brings nearly twenty years of experience in forensic technology, eDiscovery, digital investigations, cyber incident response, post-data-breach review and legal technology to the firm.

He advises clients on complex electronic evidence issues arising from cross-border litigation, regulatory investigations, major cyber incidents and multijurisdictional disputes.

Throughout his career, Lum has led eDiscovery and forensic technology practices across Australia, New Zealand, India and China. He joins BRG (Berkeley Research Group) from Wotton Kearney, where he helped build out the firm’s eDiscovery practice into a multimillion-dollar service line. Earlier, he worked for EY and Nielsen, among others.

“Avram’s appointment significantly strengthens our ability to support Australian clients facing complex investigations, high-profile cyber breaches and cross-border disputes”, said Erick Gunawan, leader of BRG’s Cyber and Forensic Technology practice in Asia-Pacific. “Clients across Australia will benefit from direct access to deep forensic technology expertise with Avram on the ground, backed by the full strength of our regional team.”

Mustafa Hadi, BRG’s regional lead in APAC, added: “I am delighted to welcome Avram to the firm. He brings technical depth and regional experience that will make an immediate impact for our clients in Australia and across Asia-Pacific, enabling us to deliver even more sophisticated and integrated services to our clients in disputes and investigations.”

US-headquartered BRG operates with two offices in Australia, in Sydney and Perth. The company employs approximately 1,600 professionals operating across more than 40 global offices worldwide.
