Nexifi merges with customer experience specialist Idea Science
Australian technology consultancy Nexifi, which was founded in Melbourne last year, has merged with Sydney-based customer experience (CX) specialist Idea Science to form the Nexifi Group.
Established by former Versent executives Rob Frendo and Carl Rigoni, Nexifi kicked off operations last year with a team of more than 30 already in place and a focus on data & AI, cloud & DevOps, customer relationship management (CRM), and digital & CX.
That latter line has now been given a significant boost through the addition of Idea Science, which, founded by chairman Peter Drum, has been operating out of Sydney since 2008 with its own team of 30-plus professionals and further outlets in Melbourne and Manila.
“Idea Science brings a depth of specialisation we deeply respect, and together we can take a customer from strategy through to delivery with the capability to back it up at every step,” Nexifi stated. “But none of this changes why we exist; outcomes that matter, delivered end to end – not a partial solution, or just one ingredient in someone else’s plan.”
Factoring in Nexifi’s growth since setting up shop last year, the combined entities now boast of a headcount of more than 100 advisors and technicians, with a further office launch in Adelaide on the horizon. The merger partners said that their official coming together follows a successful period of collaboration across their shared customer base over the course of this year and last.

“This merger is very exciting for our team and our customers, and we’re looking forward to making some more waves with our new colleagues and building a big future,” said Drum, who has taken on the CTO role for Nexifi. “We’re also super-committed to being a partner of choice in the new and evolving world of AI, and to helping our customers not just survive but to thrive.”
Drum will also oversee Nexifi Group’s CRM practice, while Rigoni heads up CX and digital and Frendo takes on the CEO role. The latter pair both held senior roles at Versent, prior to and following its $267 million sale to Telstra, respectively as director of product & customer experience and managing director of services, having previously worked together at Australia Post and Sensis.
Speaking on the merger, Frendo said; “Technology is no longer the differentiator – outcomes are. By bringing together deep expertise in customer experience, product discipline, cloud, data and AI, we’ve created a business that can help organisations move faster, make better decisions, and realise the full value of AI. That’s the opportunity this merger creates for our customers.”
