Pangolin Associates appoints Robbert Slooten as Consulting Director
Australian climate consultancy Pangolin Associates has strengthened its advisory business with the appointment of Robbert Slooten, who has been named as Director of Consulting.
A specialist in renewable energy procurement and decarbonisation strategy, Robbert Slooten brings extensive experience helping organisations navigate complex energy markets, develop procurement strategies, evaluate commercial options and negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Throughout his career, he has overseen more than 20 TWh of PPA offtake contracting spanning 30+ individual procurement processes – for comparison, that’s enough to power 3 million Australian households for a year.
Slooten previously served at SE Advisory Services, the 4,000-person consulting arm of Schneider Electric, where he advised clients around renewable energy, industrial decarbonisation, and supply chain sustainability (including scope 3). Earlier, he spent over eight years at Signify and Philips in his native the Netherlands.
Commenting on his move, Slooten said, “I’m grateful to reflect on a fantastic chapter at Schneider Electric. I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities I’ve had over the years, not least the support in relocating from the Netherlands to Australia and welcoming me on the other side of the planet.”
“There’s also a nice full-circle story behind this move. Years ago, I worked with Gary Cafe [Principal Consultant at Pangolin Associates] at Schneider Electric in the Netherlands. We both found our way to Australia, and now our paths cross again at Pangolin Associates.”
In his role, Slooten will advise clients across every stage of the energy transition, helping them secure renewable energy solutions that align with their operational requirements, financial objectives and long-term decarbonisation goals.

According to the latest government data, Australia’s energy transition is gathering pace. Renewable energy now supplies more than 40% of electricity across the nation’s major grids, with the federal government targeting 82% renewable electricity by 2030 as part of its broader emissions reduction agenda.
