ITC Infotech adds Rahul Tewari to leadership team in Australia
India-based technology consultancy ITC Infotech is continuing its push into Australia with the recruitment of Rahul Tewari as its new A/NZ business development general manager in Melbourne.
Tewari crosses to ITC Infotech after spending the past three years at Avanade and serving as a sales director at Accenture, before which he ticked off time at the four largest Indian tech consulting giants – TSC, Infosys, Wipro, and HCLTech.
Tewari’s recruitment follows ITC Infotech’s official Australian launch in March via a digital hub in Melbourne, while locally-based APAC business head Shyam Deshpande joined at the end of last year from India’s fifth-largest IT consultancy Tech Mahindra.
Tewari’s ICT career dates back close to three decades with early time spent at Ericsson and Motorola as an engineer and analyst, along with contract work at NEC and HPE (now DXC). He then joined Infosys for a four-and-a-half-year stint from 2006, followed by roughly three years apiece at Wipro, HCLTech, and Oracle, before returning to HCL and later crossing to Tata Consultancy Services.
Across his career, including during the last three years at Accenture and its specialist Microsoft subsidiary Avanade (which recently appointed Doug Robinson as its new A/NZ CEO), Tewari has built up an impressive resume combining both sales and business development acumen with the technical skills to comprehend and guide digital transformations for TMT sector clients.
Now Tewari will be responsible for guiding a new player’s regional expansion, saying; “What drew me to this role is what makes ITC Infotech genuinely different. The AI platforms and solutions we bring to clients were first built and proven inside ITC’s own businesses. We are operators as much as we are technologists, and I’m proud to be part of something being built from the ground up.”
Established over two and a half decades ago, ITC Infotech is the business advisory & tech services arm of $9 billion Indian agri-business giant ITC, considered the second-largest FMCG conglomerate in the country. Its recently-launched digital & AI engineering hub in Melbourne now doubles as its APAC HQ, with the intention to hire up to 150 employees over the next three years.
Meanwhile, Tewari also thanked Melbourne-based APAC business head Shyam Deshpande for the opportunity to help grow the new business, with the pair not unfamiliar with each other. Deshpande joined ITC Infotech toward the end of last year from Tech Mahindra, where he served as A/NZ enterprise country head, before which he held local senior roles at HCLTech for more than a decade.
