The CEO of creative marketing agency The Monkeys Mark Green has been appointed the new Lead for Accenture Interactive in Australia and New Zealand. The appointment is effective immediately, and builds on Accenture’s acquisition of The Monkeys two years ago.

Based in New South Wales, The Monkeys is a agency that offers a range of creative marketing and advertising services for a variety of players including tv shows, short films and websites, among others.

Mark Green founded in the firm in 2006 together with Justin Drape and Scott Nowell, both of whom also joined Accenture when the global professional services firm acquired The Monkeys in 2017. Recently, both Drape and Nowell were appointed co-Chief Creative Officers at Accenture Interactive.

Despite the acquisition, Green has maintained his role as group CEO of The Monkeys, a role that he will continue to serve even after being appointed Lead for Accenture Interactive Australia & New Zealand. His new role will involve continuing the expansion of Accenture Interactive in the region.

Accenture Interactive positions itself as an “experience agency,” specialised in marketing solutions, operating on the principle that consumer experience and expectations are constantly evolving. The acquisition of The Monkeys, combined with other expansion activity and product launches, is indicative of the firm’s intentions to establish itself in Australia’s marketing sphere.

Chairman at Accenture Australia & New Zealand Bob Easton reinforced these intentions when speaking of Green’s appointment, saying “Mark takes up the helm at Accenture Interactive at a very exciting time, as demand for services in this part of our business continues to grow at pace and at scale, reflecting the demand by our clients for offerings in brand strategy, design, marketing, content and commerce.”

Globally, Accenture Interactive is now one of the leading agencies in the landscape alongside the traditional advertising and marketing players such as Omnicon, Publicis and WPP. According to trade publication Ad Age, Accenture Interactive is in terms of revenue the largest digital agency worldwide.

Green added, “This is a new adventure for me personally and represents the next chapter in expanding a part of the Accenture business which harnesses creativity to help organisations close the gap between brand promise and customer experience. Since the acquisition of The Monkeys by Accenture, we have demonstrated the power of combining consulting, creativity and technology under one roof; this not only provides advantage for clients, but also opens up a world of new career opportunities for employees.”
