Matthew Blum and Matthew O'Byrne join BDO in Melbourne
BDO has hired two new seniors to its team. Matthew Blum and Matthew O'Byrne both join from Deloitte.
Appointed a partner at BDO in Melbourne, Matthew O'Byrne brings over two decades of experience in tax advisory to the firm. He specialises in helping (wealthy) family businesses and private sector clients with income tax, capital gains tax, Small Business Capital Gains Tax concessions, tax structuring, trust structures, ATO audits and international tax, with a focus on the real estate and retail sectors.
“Matthew has a proven track record building a strong network of high-net-worth clients and advising some of Australia’s wealthiest families and their businesses. BDO looks forward to offering Matthew’s expertise to our current clients,” said David Garvey, BDO Office Managing Partner in Melbourne.
Meanwhile, Matthew Blum has been appointed Associate Director in the national Business Restructuring practice, based out of Melbourne. An insolvency specialist with 15 years of experience, Blum previously spent five years at Deloitte, latterly as a Director, and before that he worked for Rodgers Reidy, BDO in his first spell at the consultancy, and PwC.
Andrew Fielding, the National Leader of BDO’s Business Restructuring practice, said that the addition of Blum is part of a larger expansion drive in the restructuring space. “We anticipate a wave of insolvencies when the government support ceases, which will grow demand for our business restructuring services. We are bolstering our team to meet this demand.”
