Kaylene O'Brien new boss of Capgemini Australia & New Zealand

Capgemini has installed a new Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand: Kaylene O'Brien.

Kaylene O’Brien takes the reins of the Capgemini’s over 2,000 strong workforce working from Australia offices in Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and Melbourne, and New Zealand offices in Auckland and Wellington. “I’m so pleased to assume the role. Capgemini is such a great organisation to be part of with a unique position in the market,” said O'Brien.

She joins the firm having previously served Deloitte for 24 years, most recently as Managing Partner of Deloitte Consulting in Australia. Earlier, she was the Lead Partner for Technology Advisory, Chief Operating Officer for Consulting, having grown the ranks in Deloitte’s technology consulting practice. She joined the Big Four firm in 1994 from Andersen Consulting (now: Accenture).

O’Brien succeeds Olaf Pietschner, a former Deloitte partner who held the top regional role since 2017. He has now been promoted to CEO of the Capgemini’s Asia Pacific business unit. “I am humbled to take on the position and excited to be leading our talented team into the next chapter of growth in the region, focused on data and cloud services,” he said.

Commenting on her appointment down under, O’Brien said: “I am honoured to lead this next stage of growth for Capgemini in Australia and New Zealand. The business has all the right elements, and a compelling purpose to ‘unleash human energy through technology for an inclusive and sustainable future’,” she stated.

O’Brien will report into Pietschner, who added: “Kaylene is a recognised leader in the industry and brings a wealth of experience that drives customer innovation, growth, and talent inclusivity.”

Meanwhile, at Deloitte Consulting, Kaylene O’Brien has been succeeded by another women: Ellen Derrick.
