Anchoram Consulting appoints internal audit leader Stephen Coates

Boutique professional services firm Anchoram Consulting has bolstered its team with Stephen Coates, a well-known expert in the world of internal auditing. 

Stephen Coates brings over two decades of experience leading assurance and risk advisory teams in both a private and public-sector context, including three spells at large accounting and consulting groups. A partner at BDO between 2010 and 2013, Coates previously served Big Four firms Deloitte and EY.

During his career, he has gained extensive experience with internal auditing and governance, leveraging his knowhow to serve on several committees of the Institute of Internal Auditors - Australia (IIA-Australia). Coates is the immediate Past-President of the Institute of IIA-Australia, a member of the IIA-Australia Board, and a member of the global International Internal Audit Standards Board (IIASB).

Appointed National Lead Partner for Internal Auditing services at Anchoram Consulting, Coates has been tasked with expanding the firm’s presence in the landscape. “We have a lot of experience and capability in the team, what we needed was someone who can help guide us from a senior leadership point of view around ensuring our services are designed and pitched at the right level with our clients,” said Harry Cheema, COO of Anchoram Consulting.

“In addition to his market leadership role, Stephen will also guide Anchoram in maintaining our quality assurance and improvement program, which means we continually provide quality internal auditing services to our clients.”
