Global strategy consulting firm Bain & Company has promoted four Australia-based company members to partner.

The quartet of new partners have been admitted into Bain’s partnership following a strong year for the consulting firm, with Global Managing Partner Manny Maceda late last year unveiling that the firm has achieved another strong year of growth, despite the continued disruption caused by the pandemic.

Across its 63 offices in 38 countries, Bain & Company promoted a total of 78 individuals to the leadership positions of partner and expert partner, including James Brooks and Jakob Hasse (based in Melbourne), and Freek Jorna and Marc Eames (based in Sydney).

James Brooks, Jakob Hasse, Freek Jorna and Marc Eames

James Brooks is a member of Bain’s Retail & Consumer Products practice. He has more than 15 years of consulting experience across a broad range of consumer categories including food and drink, household goods, apparel and consumer electronics, and across retail formats, including grocery and department stores.

He specialises in strategy, mergers & acquisitions and transformation, having worked across a wide range of strategic programs including pricing, operating model, adjacencies and transformation. Outside of retail, he has led engagements in financial services, industrials and logistics.

Prior to joining Bain, Brooks worked for EY in its corporate finance wing.

Jakob Hasse has been with Bain & Company since 2019, having joined the firm from Strategy&, where he spent six years, latterly as a Director in Sydney. Prior to that, he worked at Oliver Wyman, after which he relocated to Abu Dhabi for two years to work for Etihad Rail.

Hasse focuses on performance improvement and transformation services at clients in the industrial, resources and transportation sectors.

The Dutchman Freek Jorna is a member of Bain’s Performance Improvement practice. Since joining the consultancy in 2013 in Amsterdam (he relocated to Sydney in 2016), Jorna has advised clients on topics as large scale transformation, revenue growth and new concept development, as well as organisational design and effectiveness.

His client portfolio spans numerous regions, including North America, Europe and Australia, across the consumer products, retail, telecommunications and logistics spheres.

Marc Eames is a leader in Bain’s Telecommunications, Technology and Healthcare practices. He has extensive experience in operations, performance improvement, customer strategy, cost reduction, operating model restructuring, mergers & acquisitions and post-merger integration, and pricing.

Earlier in his career at Bain (he has been with the consultancy since 2013), Eames was an Economist in the Macro Trends Group – Bain’s economic wing that responsible for its long-term views on macroeconomic, macrosocial, demographic and geopolitical trends.

“A big congratulations to James, Jakob, Freek and Marc for their commitment to upholding our firm’s values and delivering on exceptional client results. We welcome them to the ranks of our leadership team and wish them continued success as they assume their new responsibilities,” said Maceda.
