Big Four partner Jon Stone joins Convergence.Tech in global role
Former Big Four partner Jon Stone has joined Convergence.Tech, a Canadian technology consultancy with an international footprint – including a base in Melbourne.
Appointed Global Managing Director for Digital Transformation, Jon Stone leads the firm’s digital and data transformation team globally.
Founded in 2017 in Toronto, Convergence.Tech supports clients across sectors – including government, economic development, health, education, agriculture, and multinationals – with three lines of business: digital transformation, identity & credentials and traceability solutions across value chains.
“Although only recently turning five, Convergence.Tech has already delivered incredible projects and solutions across 19 different countries, all over the world,” said Stone about his move.
“Convergence.Tech has worked in partnership with the UN and with local farmers in places such as Mongolia, Morocco, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to reduce inequalities across supply chains, helped Indigenous and First Nations people in Canada to modernise and share insights to improve opportunities for children, developed solutions and approaches for sustainable finance, and created innovative digital wallets and micro-credential solutions for educators and improve youth welfare.”
“Here in Australia, they are working with a large government agency to develop a world’s first blockchain based reporting system for excise and support their journey to become a modern regulator.” Awarded in July last year, the federal contract is worth around $2.6 million.
Prior to joining Convergence.Tech, Stone was a partner in KPMG’s Digital Delta practice, a service line within the Management Consulting division. In the role, he led the firm’s digital and data teams for Victoria and South Australia, focusing on clients in financial services, public sector, energy, and the technology sector.
Earlier in his career, Stone was a partner at Deloitte, where he was one of the founding members of the Insight Solutions service line, and served IBM Consulting (in Australia and Singapore) and Accenture (in the United Kingdom).
Now three weeks into his role, Stone said, “It’s been a whirlwind so far, getting used to the world of a fast-moving tech company, and I’m loving every minute! I’ve been inspired by how Convergence.Tech goes beyond words to really bring the purpose and vision to life – to create a new type of organisation, one that uses technology to make a meaningful contribution to people and the planet.”
Commenting on the appointment, Convergence.Tech CEO Chami Akmeemana said: “Jon’s consulting and transformation experience, coupled with our talented identity, credentials and traceability team, will drive our next stage of growth to deliver integrated, high impact, transformative outcomes for our clients.”
