Dave Ormrod joins McGrathNicol's cyber security practice
National professional services group McGrathNicol has strengthened its Advisory division with Dave Ormrod, who joins the cyber security practice in Canberra.
An Associate Professor in Cyber Security at the University of South Australia, Dave Ormrod brings a wealth of experience in the cyber domain to the leading advisory firm.
“Dave reinforces our sovereign capabilities in cyber strategy and risk, and national security. We are extremely pleased to have him onboard,” said Jamie Norton, a partner at McGrathNicol.
Following over two decades in the Australian Army, Ormrod held several leadership roles at cyber security companies including Hivint (a former Deloitte Fast 50 finalist) and Terra Schwartz, a mid-sized Canberra based company.
With expertise in cyber security strategy, risk management advice, and cyber operations, Ormrod has in recent years been a trusted advisor to public and private organisations looking to mitigate the threat of cyber incidents. He has served clients across a range of industries, including defence, government, telecommunications, and the academic sector.
Ormrod hold several professional qualifications and certifications in cyber, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), and is an Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) endorsed Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) professional.
His appointment comes at a time of spiralling demand for cyber security services, and as a result, professional services groups such as McGrathNicol are investing in their capabilities in the field.
“An enhanced cyber security posture is critical to the success of organisations. Now more than ever, we are seeing threat actors continuously evolve and refine their tactics, techniques, and processes,” said Norton, who is the former Chief Information and Security Officer (CSIO) of the Australian Taxation Office.
Other practices within McGrathNicol’s Advisory business are: Strategy & Business Improvement, Transactions, Forensic, Governance, Risk & Compliance, and Technology.
