Brett Spicer and Stefanie Merlino join BDO as partners
BDO has appointed two new partners in its Australian team: Brett Spicer and Stefanie Merlino.
A member of the Sustainability practice, Brett Spicer brings over a decade of experience in industry and consulting to the professional services firm. Most recently, he led his own climate change advisory firm, having previously held advisory roles at Shell Energy and Verdia.
“Brett joins us at a time when the demand for sustainability services has never been higher and adds considerable capability to the team. He is a valuable addition to our team and will be highly sought after by clients for his technical excellence. He will work across all BDO divisions to develop and grow the sustainability offering,” said Steven Sorbello, managing partner of BDO in Brisbane.
Earlier in his career, Spicer spent five years at Origin Energy and two years at Deloitte in its Energy & Resources practice, among others.

Stefanie Merlino meanwhile joins BDO’s Melbourne office as a partner in the People Advisory practice. She previously worked for Big Four counterpart PwC, where she was Director of Financial Advisory & Employment Taxes.
Her experience spans aspects of employment tax including fringe benefits tax, superannuation guarantee, payroll tax, compensation & benefits, and employee share schemes.
