Capital Consulting International has promoted two of its Australia-based leaders to co-Managing Directors of the firm’s Asia Pacific region.

James Funge and Simon Lowe both joined Capital Consulting International (CCi) as part of its late 2021 acquisition of Aston Consult. The duo both were Executive Directors at the Sydney-based consultancy, which had grown into a team of 40 quantum and delay specialists operating across 5 offices in Australia and New Zealand.

Funge and Lowe now lead CCi’s 70-strong team across Asia Pacific, which operates from four offices in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney) and one each in New Zealand (Auckland), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and Singapore (Singapore).

“I am honoured to be appointed Managing Director of Asia Pacific with James. I look forward to developing our established teams and expanding our service offerings throughout the region”, said Lowe.

Funge added: “As joint Managing Director of Asia Pacific, I look forward to working closely with Simon and the rest of the CCi leadership team, to continue to develop and invest in our team of professionals and experts, adding even greater value for our existing and future clients as we expand across the region.”

Founded in 1998, CCi is an international consultancy of delay, quantum, and technical experts advising the insurance, construction and capital projects industries. The firm, which is part of US-based Rimkus Consulting Group, has over 1,300 professionals worldwide.

“The appointment of James and Simon as co-leaders demonstrates our continued investment in the Asia Pacific region,” said Dave Webster, Group Managing Director at CCi. “Their track record for leading quantum and delay teams on complex construction and engineering disputes coupled with their knowledge and experience of the regional market will bring great value to our clients.”

Funge and Lowe both spent a significant part of their careers working on mega projects in Asia and the Middle East before specialising in dispute resolution consultancy and independent expert witness services. Lowe was a partner at PwC before he relocated to Australia in 2018, while Funge has been based in Australia for over a decade.

Webster: “As we work with construction and insurance clients globally it is important to have critical mass around the world with leaders that can manage a large business whilst ensuring the region is fully integrated across the whole CCi group. The appointments of James and Simon allow for this.”
