Sapere promotes Rebecca Conoulty, Martin Cairns and David Graham
Homegrown expert consulting firm Sapere has promoted three of its company members to managing director: Rebecca Conoulty, Martin Cairns and David Graham.
Established in 2010, Sapere (formerly LECG) provides independent economic, forensic accounting and public policy services to corporate, law firms, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. The firm’s 70-strong team operates out of offices in Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Perth) and New Zealand (Wellington, Auckland).
Led by a team of managing directors, Sapere has over the past period bolstered its leadership team with a trio of new seniors, lifting the size of its managing director rank to six.
Rebecca Conoulty has been with Sapere since 2008, focusing on forensic accounting and disputes & litigation consulting. She specialises in calculating complex economic loss claims and disputes involving business valuations.
Her experience includes intellectual property disputes, franchise disputes, class action disputes, disputes relating to injunctions and damages undertakings in the pharmaceutical sector, disputes in the fast food and restaurant industry, telecommunications sector, waste sector, and the financial services sector.
Prior to joining Sapere, Conoulty was a Principal at LECG and an Associate Director in EY’s Fraud & Forensic Services practice.
Martin Cairns has over 15 years of experience in the forensic market, specialising in the preparation of expert accountant reports, the assessment of damages, and investigations. He has worked on numerous major UK and international disputes and investigations, including proceedings in the High Court in London and in various international arbitration centres, and matters brought by the US SEC and Department of Justice.
In Australia, Cairns has testified in the Supreme Courts of NSW and the Northern Territory, and has worked on numerous forensic cases discussed in the various Supreme Courts of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Australian based arbitrations.
Cairns’ experience includes: complex loss of profits; contract disputes; business valuations; product liability; breach of warranty; accounting standard interpretations; assessment of financial strength; assessment of solvency; business interruption; fraud and corruption investigations (including FCPA investigations); and intellectual property claims.
David Graham specialises in business economics with expertise in market analysis, competition analysis, regulatory and public policy. His skills and expertise include: company strategy, mergers and acquisitions, competition risk analysis, demand forecasting, regulatory strategy, economic impact analysis, pricing and strategy.
Prior to joining Sapere, Graham held senior economic advisory roles at NERA Economic Consulting (part of Oliver Wyman) and Deloitte Access Economics (the economics consulting arm of Deloitte). Previously, he was Group Manager Government and Regulatory Affairs at Sensis (Telstra) and Strategic Policy Manager at Telecom New Zealand.
Graham’s client portfolio at Sapere includes major corporations in the retail, hospitality, financial and logistics sectors. He has also undertaken numerous projects for commonwealth, state and local government agencies.
